What is vacuum insulated glazing and how does it work?

Vacuum insulated glazing is a kind of flat panel that consists of two glass panes with a very thin chamber between them. Normally the chamber is evacuated of air and sealed around the edges to create a vacuum state which can reduce heat transfer by conduction and convection, making it more thermally efficient than conventional double glazing and IGUs.
